Ryan Berlin – St. Albert Steel (AJHL):
I was a student at Mount Carmel School from 2006-2009, and those were some really fun years of my life. I first decided to come to Mount Carmel because some friends of mine were already attending the hockey academy, and they told me that it was a great experience for them.
Mr. La Forge and Mr. Beck and the rest of the on and off-ice training staff helped me to improve my skills immensely. On the ice they worked through every skill slowly so you will improve on it, and no matter what your skill level is they will make sure you understand it before moving on. Off the ice they have professional trainers helping all the student athletes become stronger and faster.
This academy is a very good way to give yourself an advantage over other students who are not in hockey programs.
When I went to Mount Carmel I needed help with specific parts of my hockey game, and being on the ice with such skilled instructors several times a week really improved my game.
I am now 17, and I have played in the AJHL for the St. Albert Steel for the past 2 seasons. Going to Mount Carmel in my junior high years gave me a solid foundation for the years to come in my hockey career. I enjoyed my time at MTC Hockey and have lots of great memories.
Mark McNeil – Prince Albert Raider (WHL)/ Chicago Blackhawks (NHL):
“I really enjoyed attending MTC Hockey Academy, as well as being able to learn so much more about the game of hockey, with such great instructors. I couldn’t have asked for a better junior high experience.”
Stephane Legault – Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL):
“Hey there, my name is Stephane Legault and I was a student at Our Lady of Mount Carmel for three successful school years. I was fortunate enough to use the great teaching, coaching, and facilities at the school from 2005-2008. I am now 17 years old and in the process of completing grade 12 while enjoying my first full season with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Western Hockey League.
Throughout my hockey career I’ve always had the desire and the passion to bring my game to the next level. That’s why when it was time for me to choose which junior high I would go to for grade seven, I chose Mount Carmel. The opportunity for me to develop my game and go to school in a hockey environment made the decision an easy one.
Mr. La Forge, along with other coaches and personnel, provided me with the specific attention and teaching points I needed in order to improve my game. Being on the ice 2-3 times per week at school was something I had never experienced before and it was incredible. Also, with the brand new workout facility in the school, I was able to learn the off-ice portion of the life of a hockey player and prepare for what was ahead. With a variety of different classroom activities I learned many life skills as well. The development of time management skills needed to balance everyday life were very important and still play a huge roll in my life today.
I have nothing but good memories of my three years at Mount Carmel because it was always a fun environment to be in no matter what the situation was. Going to school and getting the chance to play hockey everyday was a dream come true. I truly believe that my time at Mount Carmel was of great benefit to me and really helped me develop into who I am today.”
Caleb Belter – Prince George Cougars (WHL):
“MTC Hockey has really helped me a lot in my hockey journey. They showed me and helped improve the little things like quick release, shooting in stride, and making sure my head is always up while I'm skating. To this day they give me continued support, and have really helped me along my hockey career.”
Keegan Lee- SSAC (Midget AAA):
“During my 3 years at the MTC Hockey Academy, I was able to take both my on-ice and off-ice hockey skills to another level. Mr. La Forge and his staff really helped me with the little details of the game that can make a significant difference in your performance and gave me the skills to take my game to the next level. I would recommend the MTC Hockey Academy to any player looking to enhance their skills and become an even better hockey player.” .
